Lenses and Aperture

My 35mm and 50mm Lenses have a fixed focal length, this would mean that if I position myself too close or too far from the subject matter I would have difficulty with certain aspects like working from a large distance. so to work around this, it is important to change my angle of view so that I can find the best position where the subject can be at the perfect focal length and I am looking at the subject from different perspectives in order to find which is the most suitable for the context.

The 18-55mm and 70-300mm lens are zoom lens, these allow me to change the focal length while staying stationary, the 18-55mm lens

is helpful to change from a wide angle of view to a more standard eye field of view.

The 70-300mm lens is useful when shooting from a long distance and uses a telephoto angle of view. I have started to give more attention to the prime lenses since I don't want to remain stationary whilst photographing.

Using a variety of lenses available to me: 35mm prime lens, 50mm prime lens, 18-55mm lens, 70-300mm lens.

Prime lens refers to a fixed focal Length, one that remains consistent. A zoom lens gives you a wider range of focal length, one that allows flexibility with shooting long and short distances.

The lens have an aperture which controls the amount of light that reaches the light sensor. Shutter-speed controls how long the shutter stays open which either allows less or more light in.

For example: f2.8 has a large aperture which results in more light being exposed to the light sensor so it is commonly used in darker situations.(in a highly shaded area, and at night)

f22 has a small aperture which results in less light being exposed to the light sensor so it is commonly used in situations where you have decent lighting. (on a clear day and in a studio thats well light with 5500K)

50mm Prime lens

I much prefer this prime  lens photograph because its 1.8 aperature is so incredible it allows me to photograph with a faster shutter speed avoiding any motion blur from my hands and allows for a more detail photograph

my 50mm prime lens was far more effective taking it from close by it creates a great sense of depth which was done simply because the camera was able to reach a aperature of 1.8 this was what I think defines the 50mm prime lens Being more effective with portrait photography It blurs the background with a depth creating a focal point on the model or subject.

50mm on zoom lens (18-55mm)

The 18-55mm zoom lens at 50mm didn't have the best result compared to the prime lens this was because the aperature is far more limited and the depths of field is hindered because it gets as much in focus, it does however create a wider angle compared to the prime lens using the cups in the top left as a guide you can see that without the zoom lens you only get to the orange cup but here on the zoom lens its field of vision is wider.
